#72 – Even Stranger Bilge-Sucking PIRATES

Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz search for the Fountain of Youth in the narrative mess that is 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.'

Bob Chipman (a.k.a. MovieBob and The Game Overthinker, and contributor to Escapist Magazine) joins John and me again this week to discuss the new Walt Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer box office pillager Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Amid this episodes’ 107-minutes, wrath and bewilderment ensue.

John, Bob and I also discuss director CĂ©line Danhier’s documentary Blank City, which is now playing at Kendal Square, and the latest release from The Asylum, Almighty Thor. Plus our picks of the week, including the new 50th Anniversary blu-ray release of Robert Rossen’s The Hustler (1961) starring Paul Newman.

We recorded this episode at Panera Bread, across the street from the Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline, MA. As always, we tried to find a quite spot to record. Our apologies for any obtrusive background noise.
