#81 – CAPTAIN AMERICA, fuck yeah!

One sweet movie. Chris Evans stars in director Joe Johnston's 'Captain America: The First Avenger.'

Joining John and me again this week is Bob Chipman (a.k.a. MovieBob and The Game Overthinker, and contributor to Escapist Magazine). And we’re all about Captain America: The First Avenger … one damn good movie.

I feel sometimes a certain regret about really liking a film, but this one deserves my envy for a job well done. Director Joe Johnston has made the best film of his career. We do, of course, realize we go on and on, for an hour at least, about how much we dig this movie.

That's right. No man.

Also up for discussion, our picks of the week. John recommends Dangerous Babes, a new 12-film collection from Mill Creek Entertainment; Bob says MST3K Vs. Gamera: Mystery Science Theater 3000, Vol. XXI is well worth your time; and I implore you to check out Roger Corman’s Sword & Sorcery Collection (Deathstalker, Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans, The Warrior and the Sorceress, and Barbarian Queen) from Shout! Factory. It’s a trip and a half.

We also recommend two more new releases: the Topher Grace/Anna Faris comedy Take Me Home Tonight and the Bradely Cooper/Robert DeNiro semi-sci-fi thriller Limitless.

MST3K destroys Gamera -- "You know, the flying turtle."

As with each episode, this one was recorded live at Panera Bread in Brookline, Ma, across the street from The Coolidge Corner Theater. There’s background noise, of course, which we hope isn’t bothersome. We like to eat and talk in restaurants. The atmosphere goes with the territory.
