#29 – SHOWGIRLS and FIGHT CLUB on Blu-ray

I remember receiving a promotional VHS cassette for Showgirls back in 1995.  It contained a 15-minute making-of featurette highlighting the films’ risque NC-17 rating; and the soundtrack, which I think is kinda hard to find these days. Anyway, it was the first glimpse MGM gave journalists of this over-the-top, melodramatic, moronic mishmash of awesomeness. And now, 15 years later, Showgirls is on Blu Ray and embraced for its perfect storm of awfulness.

Then there’s this other film from the late 90s, which arguably may now be among the best of the decade: David Fincher’s Fight Club. Also lookin’ good on Blu Ray.

Throw in Will Smith & family’s remake of The Karate Kid, and you’ve got Episode #29.

Enjoy!
