Coming to The Coolidge: ‘The Human Centipede: Full Sequence’

-IFC Films

Just returned from a screening of The Human Centipede: Full Sequence, and WOW… what a disgusting display of grotesque imagery and squeamishly irritating sound effects. It’s definitely the sideshow that director Tom Six wanted. It isn’t “cinema.” It’s more like a freak-show; a one-note experience that should work well for those desiring to see it for its novelty – and that’s being kind.

For those who dare, or those wanting nothing beyond gore, you can see it this Friday, Oct 14, and Saturday, Oct 15 at the midnight hour at The Coolidge. Click here for tickets.

Regarding Mr. Six’s personal philo$ophy and the film’s ban in Britain, I suggest reading Dave Itzkoff’s interview in The New York Times.

#62 – RANGO, THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU and TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT

Rango (voiced by Johnny Depp) and his posse chase water thieves in the first CGI-animated feature from Industrial Light & Magic - 'Rango.'

John and I discuss the new CGI-animated flick Rango, Matt Damon’s venture into the world of Philip K.Dick with The Adjustment Bureau, and the Topher Grace comedy Take Me Home Tonight.

For our picks of the week, I say Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours, starring James Franco, is worth it on Blu-ray. And John goes for Blake Edward’s 1971 western Wild Rovers – all 140 minutes of it.

Ryan O'Neal and William Holden in Blake Edward's 'Wild Rovers' (1971).
